Club History
Eire Og Seville was formed in Autumn 2009. The club play in green and red jerseys, black shorts and black socks. Its home base is in Cartuja, beside Seville’s Olympic Stadium. The club website is currently http://eireogseville.wordpress.com.
‘Los verdirojos’ played their first friendly match in February 2010 away against Marbella Costa Gaels. It then took part in the Marbella and Madrid rounds of the 2010 Iberian Championships – narrowly losing to St Vincent Valencia in the semi-finals in Madrid.
In February 2011 Eire Og Seville hosted the first round of the 2011 Iberian Championships, with seven teams competing. It again progressed to the semi-finals, before being defeated by Barcelona Gaels.
While currently only fielding a men’s team in competition, the club also has an increasing number of female players, and hopes to enter a ladies team soon. The club now has members from Ireland, Spain, England, Sweden and the US and regularly holds social events, helping to build links between the Irish and local community in Seville.
