Clan Na Gael Fontenoy meets Valencia Saint Vincent ladies in friendly match

posted on October 23rd, 2011

On the weekend of Oct 15th the Dublin team Clan Na Gael Fontenoy Ladies Junior Football team from Ringsend, Dublin made a long journey via Alicante to Valencia.  They arrived full of enthusiasm for a good friendly game.  The home team, Valencia, were looking forward to it too, but with 3 complete beginners in the their side, were a little more cautious about the encounter!  The teams were split into 4, and games played against each side.

The Irish team showed their strength in the games against Valencia, a product of weekly games over the season, and twice-a-week training (and maybe the rain?!).  And for Valencia in the end the three new girls played stormers and really came on during the 3 games.

The more experienced team members also benefited from playing a relaxed game and some new stars in new positions were found I’m sure!

A final game with everyone involved – about 16 a side - ended the day with a great atmosphere in preparation for the night out ahead.
